Gary Adams is a golfer who had a dream of beating other golfer’s performances with the use of powerful golf clubs. In 1978, Adams found the chance to introduce himself to Ron Streck, a PGA Tour professional. He met the pro in a practice day at the Walt Disney World National Team Championship. In 1979 just a year later, taking a few thousand dollars from a loan he acquired, Adams founded TaylorMade Golf in McHenry, Illinois. Adams started his small business with only one product to offer – a 12º driver cast of stainless steel and leasing a 6,000 square foot building for his business.

Until the victory of Lee Trevino in 1984, who once again attained the US PGA title using the TaylorMade MetalWood, TaylorMade was then given more acknowledgements and started to increase its popularity.
With the crowd’s growing consciousness which started from Trevino’s victory, TaylorMade got the chance to expand its business introducing its products to more prospective clients. When TaylorMade was acquired by Salomon S.A., a big French company, it was considered as a big move which would open a bigger door expanding its market literally to the world.
With TaylorMade’s global reach, it expanded to a number of other TaylorMade golf equipment. To name a few – the TaylorMade irons, TaylorMade putters, Taylormade fairway woods, TaylorMade golf balls and TaylorMade golf bags. By the early 90′s, TaylorMade remarkably made it to be the number one brand of metalwood in the PGA tour. Only a year after, it also become the number one brand for PGA, LPGA and Senior PGA Tours.
